The School of Foreign Languages organized an event entitled “Erasmus Experiences: A Conversation with Former Preparatory Students” on 17 June 2026 at the Conference Hall of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. The event attracted considerable interest from students.
Moderated by Dr. Ayça Bakıner, Lecturer at the School of Foreign Languages, the event featured two former preparatory school students of our university, Berkay Akin and Emir Başaran, who shared their academic, cultural, and personal experiences gained through the Erasmus mobility programme. In a friendly and engaging discussion, the speakers talked about their preparations for studying abroad, their interactions with different cultures, and the academic and social skills they developed during their time overseas.
The speakers also emphasized the importance of preparatory education in the Erasmus experience, noting that the education they received at the School of Foreign Languages significantly contributed to the development of their English communication skills. Highlighting the role of language proficiency in international academic and social environments, they offered valuable advice to students considering participation in the Erasmus programme, covering topics such as the application process, adaptation to a new environment, and student life abroad.
Throughout the event, students had the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about various aspects of the Erasmus experience. Participants benefited from the speakers’ first-hand insights and gained a deeper understanding of international educational opportunities.
At the end of the programme, Prof. Dr. Yasin Acar, Director of the School of Foreign Languages, presented Certificates of Appreciation to Berkay Akin and Emir Başaran in recognition of their valuable contributions and inspiring presentations. The event concluded with a commemorative group photograph.
As the School of Foreign Languages, we would like to thank Berkay Akin and Emir Başaran for sharing their experiences with our students, and Dr. Ayça Bakıner for organizing and moderating the event. We wish them continued success in their academic and professional careers.
