On January 15th, 40 students in our department received comprehensive sustainability training, adapted from the Eskişehir Chamber of Industry's (ESO) "Green Collar Academy" program. The training covered current regulations, including the EU Green Deal, Border Carbon Adjustment Mechanism (BCDM), and Emissions Trading System (ETS), as well as the implications of sustainability for industrial practices, carbon footprint, measurement and reporting processes, and transformation approaches.
The training content was prepared based on the “Green Collar Academy” training program developed by the ESO Sustainable Green Industry Unit (ESO SYS) for the business world. In this phase of the training, which will be conducted in five different cities as part of the project, ESO SYS Unit Consultant Prof. Dr. Cengiz Türe shared new regulations, environmentally friendly practices, and sustainable business strategies with the participants. ESO SYS Unit Sustainability and Green Industry Expert Dr. Çağdaş Saz, on the other hand, presented the application of sustainability in industry through examples focusing on measurement, reporting, and transformation.
During the event, Bilecik OEDAŞ provincial director Mesut ŞEN and OEDAŞ officials also shared their experiences regarding the transformation process in the electricity distribution sector and the company's sustainability practices with the students, offering a sectoral perspective. After the event, which was organized in partnership with OEDAŞ and ESO, refreshments and gifts were provided to the participants by OEDAŞ.
