Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University attracted significant attention at the Attitude, Investment and Turkish Goods Exhibition, held with the participation of the Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin and the Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır, by showcasing the BeyTürk BF UAV model developed at the university.
Developed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Burak Öztürk, a faculty member of the Faculty of Engineering, together with his students, the model was presented within the scope of a TÜBİTAK project in cooperation with TUSAŞ as a concrete outcome of the Alfa Kurt Kamikaze UAV Project. The UAV features a wingspan of 2.9 meters, an endurance of 3 hours, and a payload capacity of 4.5 kilograms.
At the exhibition, where original projects carried out by universities were presented, Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır and the President of the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office, Prof. Dr. Zeki Durak, visited the exhibition area and received information about the project directly from the students. The students stated that the design process was carried out in cooperation with Gazi University TUSAŞ Vocational School and Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University, while the production was conducted at the workshops of Beypazarı Fatih Anatolian High School within the framework of the initiative “Universities design, vocational high schools produce,” and expressed their satisfaction at being involved in such a project.
TUSAŞ prototype production officials attending the exhibition examined the models showcased by the university from a technical perspective and stated that they found the design, production quality, and engineering approach to be highly successful. The exhibition was evaluated as a strong example of collaboration between universities, vocational high schools, and the defense industry reflected in practice, while the active involvement of young people in national technology projects drew particular attention.
