TÜBİTAK to Fund Project Led by Our Faculty Member
05 January 2026 Monday

A research project led by Burçin Atılgan Türkmen, Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering at our University, has been approved for funding. The project will be carried out under the 1833 SAYEM Green Transformation Call within the scope of the Türkiye Green Industry Project, which is supported by the World Bank.

Titled “Development of Value-Added Products and Processes from the Hemp Plant for Different Sectors,” the project will be implemented by a broad consortium comprising industry and academic partners. It aims to transform the hemp plant into high value-added products for a range of sectors, including textiles, chemicals, automotive, and construction materials.

Within the framework of the project, studies will focus on chemical process development and sustainable production approaches, contributing to the development of innovative, hemp-based products. Through this initiative, the project is expected to support environmentally responsible industrial practices while strengthening the link between academic research and industrial application.

With the acceptance of this project, our University further consolidates its success in academia–industry collaboration and contributes to Türkiye’s green industry strategies.

We congratulate Assoc. Prof. Burçin Atılgan Türkmen on this achievement and wish her continued success in her academic and research endeavours.
